Here is the first field update for the AAfCW in 2022 with data through April 27. These updates will occur more frequently now that we are nearly complete in getting all monitors into the field. We have around 170 volunteer monitors at over a dozen sites in Connecticut. That sounds like a lot, but when our sites and birds need monitoring from dawn to dusk, seven days a week, avoiding bad weather, targeting specific tides, it means we need all the help we can get.
A huge thanks to everyone for all the monitoring and education. Once we start seeing Least and Common Terns in May they will be included in these updates, along with numbers of hatchlings, fledglings, and juveniles for all four focal species later this season. Negative data is not included below.
