AAfCW 2016 Volunteer Update #15

This is the fifteenth weekly update by the Audubon Alliance for Coastal Waterbirds (AAfCW) for the 2016 season. Today's update includes reports of Piping Plover, American Oystercatcher, Least Tern and Common Tern from June 27 through 11:00 p.m. on July 4 with sightings of birds by volunteers and staff.

Informational updates:

Thank you to all who went out and monitored during this very busy Fourth of July weekend! Please keep an eye on the weather this week as our forecast includes temperatures nearing 90 and heat indices that could be well into the 90s or near 100. Your safety is paramount and very warm temperatures under the hot summer sun can be tough on young birds and nests, too. Please skip monitoring if you feel it is too warm and also be sure to avoid the potential thunderstorms we may have this week on multiple days. Thank you all for your work!
