Volunteer Planting Day - Stratford Great Meadows Marsh, May 21

Passing along this message from two of the AAfCW's organizations...

Audubon Connecticut, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy, is hosting a volunteer planting day at the Great Meadows Marsh on Saturday, May 21, from 10:00-2:00 p.m. with a break for lunch. The event will be held at the Stewart B. McKinney Wildlife Refuge on 700 Long Beach Blvd. Stratford, CT 06615. There is plenty of parking on the street in front of the refuge, in the adjacent warehouse lot, and in the refuge’s lot.

The work includes planting marsh grass plugs, digging small holes, separating the plugs from the trays, and walking to and from planting areas.

Participants should bring: sunscreen, hat, work gloves, snacks/lunch, water and muck boots if they have them. Muck boots and gloves are available to borrow.

Please RSVP to Jack Matthias, Coastal Resilience Associate, Audubon Connecticut via jack.matthias@audubon.org. Thank you!
