AAfCW 2023 Materials Update

Our 2023 AAfCW badges, lanyards, and t-shirts should be available in the middle of next week at the Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center in Milford and Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center in Old Lyme. You can also drop off your printed and signed waiver form for CT DEEP when picking any materials up at either location. We have been waiting on shipping for tees and printing for badges, but they are all set now, and will be dropped off next Tuesday/Wednesday.

If you are a new volunteer monitor for the Audubon Alliance for Coastal Waterbirds, please try to attend new volunteer field training on April 15th from 10-12pm at Sandy/Morse Points in West Haven. The beach is located at the end of 1st Ave./Beach St. in West Haven. We will take care of free parking for the lot with the City of West Haven. We will see Piping Plovers, American Oystercatchers, and more. West Haven has an astonishing number of Piping Plovers already with potentially 15 pairs looking for nesting space. Some of these early arrival beaches may have eggs any day now.

Please RSVP to ctwaterbirds@gmail.com if you will be attending volunteer field training. Returning monitors may attend, too, but please bear in mind the instruction is targeted to new monitors. Field training is also a great time to pick up a badge, lanyard, or AAfCW t-shirt, and drop off waiver forms.

Please schedule your monitoring now if you have not already, continue submitting information, and refer to the YouTube training sessions if needed.

Our field season has officially commenced, and we'll be all set on our beaches soon.

Thanks so much!
